Sports Bras VS Bralettes, What’s The Difference?

Sports bras and bralettes are often confused with each other because of the immense similarities. In fact, sports bras are just bralettes with more support! Sports bras and bralettes definitely have their differences, quite a few actually. Today, we will be taking a deep dive into the differences between a sports bra and a bralette, so let’s get started!

One of the main differences between a sports bra and a bralette is the padding. Because of the need for good support when doing exercise, sports bras have more padding than bralettes, so they offer more coverage and support than bralettes do.

Sports bras are usually worn for doing exercise and sports, while bralettes are worn for everyday wear. Due to the material and design of sports bras, they aren’t often worn for going out. Bralettes, on the other hand, are designed to be used for everyday wear or going to a party.

Sports bras are specifically made to support the breasts and wick moisture from the body, they are the best option when doing vigorous activities or sports. Bralettes do not provide the support that sports bras do and are not made of ideal material for working out in, so they are not as suitable to wear when doing sports.

Like I mentioned before, sports bras are like bralettes with more support. Sports bras have a lot of padding and the design and material of the bra gives the bra its ability to support your breasts even when you’re doing sports like horseback riding or boxing. Bralettes are not made like sports bras, and are unable to support the breasts the way a sports bra is able to.

Surprisingly, sport bras are better to wear post surgery compared to bralettes. This is because many sports bras are specially designed to be comfortable and safe to wear after a surgery, but most bralettes aren’t.

There aren’t that many differences when it comes to sports bras and bralettes. They can be worn interchangeably at times, but it’s better to wear them for their purposes.
