Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, but there are some struggles in pregnancy almost all women face, such as sensitive and heavy breasts.
Pregnant women out there, come and join me as we explore what to look for in a pregnancy bra!
Normal bras won’t work
The main rule is to know you cannot just buy a normal bra a few sizes up to use. A normal bra isn’t built to cater for the specific needs you would have during your pregnancy. Raising a child can be expensive, so you will need to make the right economical choices even before they’re born. Buying a bra that can grow with you and provide comfort throughout your entire pregnancy will definitely save a lot of costs.
One of the important things a pregnancy bra should have are sturdy straps. If the straps aren’t sturdy enough, the bra will not be able to hold the weight of your breasts. However, it should not be digging into your shoulders because that would be uncomfortable and restricting your breasts. The straps should also be wide enough to distribute weight evenly.
In a bit of a pinch
You should choose a bra that fits well and doesn’t pinch. It is not recommended to wear a wired bra as it could be constricting or pinch your bust.
A bit of a stretch
You’re going to need a lot of breast support during pregnancy as they grow a lot. A good pregnancy bra needs to have room to stretch under the bust and around the back for that. The material also needs to be stretchy enough to expand as your chest grows in pregnancy.
The comfort of the material of the bra is also important to take note of, because your bras become sensitive during pregnancy. If you are able to, test the bra to find the suitable material for you to wear, because different pregnant women have different needs.
Racerback, get set, go!
Cups and bands
You also need to take heed of the bra cups and bands. The band must not be too tight – you should be able to put 2 fingers under it- to prevent discomfort and the cups must be big enough to cover your breasts. If you feel your bra riding up from the back, then you need to buy a bigger cup size.
And down it goes
A good tip when buying a pregnancy bra is the bra should have drop down cups for easy breastfeeding so you can wear it even after birth.
If you plan to buy a bra with a hook eye closing, you should choose a bra that is comfortable in the tightest setting, so that as you progress in your pregnancy you can loosen the setting to accommodate the growth.
Looking out for these aspects will ensure the bra that you buy will give you comfort and support for your entire pregnancy, and still be usable after that. If you wanna try out some good ones, I recommend the Suekaphin 2PACK Nursing Bra Wireless Bra Women’s Sleeping Maternity Bra Breastfeeding Bra and the Lamaze Intimates Women’s Maternity Overnight Nursing Wide Band Shoulder Straps Bra.
